New Eurostar trains are taking shape.

Readers will recall that Eurostar (the chunnel train operator) ordered new trains from Siemens Mobility in Germany last year. This order for new rolling stock was not without controversy. Even though Siemens had won the competition fair and square, the French had a major hissy fit after losing the bid and began a judicial attack on the process.

Fortunately the courts saw through this charade and in short order Siemens was given the go ahead to construct the trains.

Today Eurostar provided an update on the $1.12 billion order.

Here is the report on the update as reported in The Railway Gazette" of 18 October 2012.
