Good riddance CSX!

The State of Maryland has signed a five year contract with Bombardier Transportation to operate Maryland Transit Administration's MARC Camden and Brunswick rail lines. The contract is worth a bit over $204 million and has an option to be extended by five years.

This should all be good news for the much plagued commuters. Bombardier will take over from CSX Transportation. Euphemistically CSX has said that it wants to "focus on it's core business, which is movement of freight". Personally I think the reality is much different. CSX has done such a bad job of it in the past, that the Maryland MTA was pretty much forced to go with another supplier.

Here is the Maryland MTA press release regarding the letting of the contract.
