The Washington Post published an interesting editorial today concerning the construction of the so called Silver Line to Washington Dulles International Airport. This city must be the only place in the civilized world without decent access to it's international airport. A miserable bus service or an expensive taxi ride are basically the only public options to get to IAD. The airport itself is a disgrace to this area, but that is another topic for a future post.
According to the editorial the whole affair is now bogging down because Loudon County Republicans are putting their narrow minded thinking ahead of the general publics need for decent public transportation. To quote the Washington Post: "It's ego, pride, politics and ideology". It is really too bad since new Metro stations tend to bring new developments and jobs. Here is a thought: Maybe they should just build the line to the airport without any stations in Loudon County!
